A book I proofread only a few weeks ago has since changed my life and I am promoting to all my patients for not only addiction but to help answer the unbarable search that is at the root of all that ails us as human beings. The search for meaning and understanding and purpose. I tell you I have never read a book quite like this one. Do yourself a favor and help yourself not only with addiction but with life in general. THE TRUTH "The Illumination of Conscience" book by author Jeff Simoneaux www.thetruthbooksite.com

As long as we have lobbyist and extreme DUI advocates for incarseration VS treatement in place, like MADD our system weill remain askewed. True justice only takes place when our elected officials hear the will of the people, the problem, most of us are always too busy to speak. Sad indeed!

On Sunday I was at another treatment center near NTS Inc to be of service and hopefully help a new member. Well indeed I found one and I drove her and a woman I sponsor to an ice cream shop right around the corner from Newport Beach. This new member was eating her ice cream and mentioned that she plays a little bit of guitar and piano so I said, “You should come over to my house and jam with me and my sister.”
She said, “Oh yeah that would be awesome! What do you play?”
I said, “I sing.”
She mentioned that she sings but is really afraid of singing in front of people. She asked me how I got over my fear of singing for people, I thought for a minute. The only answer I could come up with was the 12 Steps.
The point is that the 12 Steps help my “me” problem too. The steps are a path to self-discovery and freedom from fear of people, places, things, and situations.

Sadly this economy is affecting every aspect of life as we know it in OC and this country. Drug and alcohol treatment is something that really should not be put off if one can avoid it. This disease is progressive and to think that saving a buck would be like holding off on chemo treatment for cancer hoping it will get better.

Also too, as Americans face tougher times from a slowing economy, they are consuming more alcohol, Reuters reported Jan. 12.

"People are drinking more, because people tend to drink more during tough times,'' said JP Morgan beverage analyst John Faucher. "That fits into the current environment, both from a September 11 standpoint as well as from an economic standpoint."

Typically, sales of alcohol increase during recessions. According to industry figures, spending on liquor has risen in recent months. Data also shows that more people are consuming alcohol at home rather than in restaurants.

"I would agree with the theory that people have been drinking more," said Davenport & Co. analyst Ann Gurkin, who follows a number of beverage companies.

The good news is that Soma is a crappy drug to try to get 'high' off. I personally have abused Soma only when I was completely unable to get a hold of narcotics or other drugs. It was as much of a mental thing as anything else with me... to take something for the sake of it..

Soma abuse however can cause physical damage and side effects.
* Agitation
* Depression
* Dizziness
* Sleepiness
* Facial flushing
* Fainting
* Headache
* Insomnia
* Poor coordination
* Nausea and vomiting
* Rapid heart rate
* Stomach problems
* Shaking and tremors

Knowing what I know now and how crappy it truly was to take, I am so grateful that I don't have to use whatever I can get my hands just to feel better.

If you are struggling with a sex or love addiction please pick up the SLAA (Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous) book. Unlike some other anonymous texts the SLAA book discusses several addictions in the anonymous stories located in the back of the book. Each addict shared his/her struggle with addiction and often times include how another addiction, beside sex or love, have interrupted his/her wellness. The SLAA stories share experiences on sex, love, food, gambling, drinking, and using drugs. If you suffer from more than one addiction it can be difficult to arrest one without taking care of another as well.
