Executive Team

Mike Neatherton

Michael Neatherton

CEO

Mike Neatherton is an industry leader with a career spanning more than 30 years. When Mike joined Northbound he immediately began to transform the corporate culture by building on the transformational leadership principles of transparency, authenticity, and collaboration. Mike believes that successful leadership requires not only vision, but the ability to gain the agreement and commitment of all of the other people in the organization. As President and CEO of Northbound, Mike’s passion for treatment is founded upon the belief that all individuals can recover. Mike maintains a solid 12-Step program as the foundation for treatment at Northbound, informing all aspects of treatment, and serving as the core philosophy for the organization. Mike embraces the challenge of providing superior treatment services to the entire family system impacted by drug addiction, alcoholism, and mental illness. He cites his strong spiritual values and the ability to find balance in his personal life as the keys to his professional success. Prior to Northbound, Mike served in various executive positions at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage California, where he worked for more than 20 years. Mike holds a bachelor’s degree from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, and a master’s degree from Indiana State University in Terra Haute, Indiana. He is a member of both the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American College of Addiction Treatment Administrators. Mike and his wife, Maria, have 3 daughters, and they reside in Newport Beach, California.

Paul Alexander

President / COO

Northbound’s founder, Paul Alexander, has been at the helm leading the organization since its inception in 2008. An astute clinician, conscientious businessman, and compassionate leader, Paul has shown willingness to take risks both personally and professionally in the service of developing a treatment environment where clients and staff alike can truly thrive. He believes wholeheartedly in transformative leadership, and ensures that his fellow leaders at Northbound are empowered to bring transparency and collaboration into all aspects of their professional lives. Paul excels in his ability to inspire and coalesce groups of individuals into action oriented, effective teams. Paul believes that recovering addicts are best equipped to succeed when exploring and embracing their spirituality, and when enhancing their self-efficacy. To ensure the latter, Paul has been instrumental in the development and oversight of Northbound’s occupational and collegiate services – innovative programs that empower clients to work or participate in school while in the supportive treatment environment. Paul received his Certified Addiction Treatment Specialist training at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California, and was awarded Outstanding Alumni Service Award in 2002. Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology, Law and Society, summa cum laude, from the School of Social Ecology at University of California, Irvine, and a Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles. Paul lives in Orange County with his wife and their young son, Noah.

Ilana Zivkovich joined Northbound in January 2015. An experienced clinician, executive, and clinical development officer, Ilana celebrates and emboldens Northbound’s renowned focus on fostering a flourishing and healthy organizational culture. Trained in positive psychology, Ilana believes in the strengths and potential of every client and team member she has the opportunity to work with. She utilizes her signature strengths of curiosity, love, and honesty to help others identify and build upon their unique set of strengths to live within the upper reaches of their potential. In recovery herself since the age of 16, Ilana is grateful for the opportunity to help young and emerging adults develop a fulfilling lifestyle of recovery. In her role as Northbound’s Chief Clinical Officer Ilana oversees the clinical service development and delivery, and does her part to ensure that Northbound’s ethos of transparency, authenticity, and collaborative leadership are able to flourish. Prior to joining Northbound Ilana held a variety of leadership roles within the addiction field, most recently serving as the Executive Director for Promises Austin. Ilana holds a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin, and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), and a Certified Daring Way Facilitator Consultant (CDWF-C). Additional areas of clinical specialization include shame resiliency, dual diagnosis, family of origin and family dynamic issues, and positive psychology.

Ray Pacini

CFO

Ray Pacini joined Northbound in June 2013 after a 30 year career in various roles with publicly traded companies. Ray has been a board member for three public companies during the last 17 years, served as the CEO for a residential developer for 13 years and as the CFO for a commercial and residential developer for six years. He also spent three years with a Fortune 500 conglomerate and seven years as a CPA with a Big 4 public accounting firm. Ray is utilizing his financial management and strategic planning experience to help Northbound continue to grow and provide cost effective services to clients and their families. Devon Wayt

Devon Wayt

Vice President of Operations

With more than a decade of experience in managing behavioral health treatment facilities, Devon Wayt’s expertise ranges from quality and compliance, to operations and change management. He graduated from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management in Southern California where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in management and a Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in global business. Devon’s leadership philosophy is based on the understanding that leadership itself takes practice. He believes that everyone can be a leader, but leadership would not exist without ethical utilities such as honesty, authenticity, transparency, integrity, and a commitment to self-respect and leading by example. He believes that determination ultimately leads to spiritual, physical, and monetary success, through leadership, for organizations and those within the organizations. Inspiring creativity and innovation while honoring the freedom to make mistakes sharpen the ability to achieve organizational goals and win. Devon’s leadership philosophy also entails the fact that he has inherited energy to help and inspire others. Balance amongst helping others and helping him attribute to personal and organizational success, and it is through healthy relationships with his family, business, and friends combined with a spiritual consciousness that his whole-heartedness can ultimately inspire others to effect change.

Dr. Edward Kaufman

Medical Director

Northbound Treatment Services is proud to announce the addition of Edward Kaufman, M.D. to the clinical team. Dr. Kaufman assumed the role as Northbound’s Medical Director in February 2012. The medical director position was created in response to the growth and expansion of Northound programs and the sub-acute residential detoxification services. Dr. Kaufman’s appointment further indicates the Northbound commitment to quality care and marks another milestone in the realization of our strategic vision. Dr. Kaufman has been practicing psychiatry for over 40 years. He blends his knowledge of psychology, family systems and psychopharmacology to meet the client’s individual needs. He was a former president of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry and Editor of the American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse. Dr. Kaufman received his medical training at Jefferson University, USC and Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. He has authored 3 books, edited 5 more, and written over 200 articles and book chapters on family therapy, alcoholism, drug addiction, anxiety and depression. He was a full professor of psychiatry at the University of California, Irvine, where he was the Director of Psychiatric Services, Residency and Medical Students Education and private alcohol/drug services.

With the addition of Dr. Kaufman Northbound has further solidified its position as the area leader for comprehensive alcohol, drug, and dual-diagnosis treatment.

Ernalyn M

Ernalyn Montgomery

oneEIGHTY Nurse Practitioner/ Nursing Manager

Ernalyn has been with Northbound since July 2012 and brings over 10 years of experience. She is dually licensed as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Child/Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). She completed her undergraduate studies at Hawaii Pacific University, received her MSN/FNP at Univ of Phoenix, and post-grad PMHNP at Arizona State Univ. Ernalyn has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who are suffering from chemical dependency, mental health disorders, and dual diagnoses in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She assisted in facilitating the development of a 23-hour psychiatric crisis program for over 5 years. She also works as a clinical professor at UC Irvine teaching undergrad psychiatry to BSN students. Ernalyn believes in individualizing care for all her patients and emphasizes the importance of a healthy body, mind, and spirit. Her positive energy, expertise, and passion for her career are distinctly evident and exuded through the quality of care her patients receive. Areas of specialty include mood disorders, substance abuse, depression, ADHD, and PTSD. Her passion is her family, being in the ocean, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Matthew Kinoshita

Clinical Director – Women’s CORE, The College Program, and The Bridge Program

Matthew is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 4 years of experience working with clients struggling with addiction. He came into the field of treatment with clinical training as a Marriage and Family Therapist intern. As an MFT-Intern he led Proposition 36 substance abuse classes and worked with court ordered youth from the Juvenile Drug Court of Orange County treatment programs. While clinical work as a therapist brought him into substance abuse treatment, he currently utilizes his unique skill set in the role of Program Manager for Women’s Core. He is in the process of completing a Psy.D in Marriage and Family Therapy at the California School of Professional Psychology. Matthew possesses a wide range of work experience: advertising executive, headhunter, and teacher are all job descriptions included on his resume. He has also held many positions of leadership and guidance for organizations he found inspirational. Past roles include Trustee for Alliant International University and Advisory Board Member for The Future Leader’s Institute. He has a curious mind and is usually engaged in some sort of outdoor activity. He has a teaching certification for skiing and snowboarding. He also enjoys woodworking, anything to do with cars, fine arts, and family. Currently, home is in Long Beach with wife Caroline and Piglet, a canine rescued from the streets of Los Angeles.

Ari Drosman

Clinical Director – Men’s CORE, LINKS, and Outpatient Programs

Ari comes to Northbound with over a decade of experience working in the addiction field. As an experienced therapist and case manager, he has worked in a variety of addiction centers treating women, adolescents, and adults. His leadership skills are fine-tuned as well, having served as clinical and program director for all levels of treatment. He also taught addiction counseling, physiology and pharmacology, co-occurring disorders, and special populations at the Training Institute for Addiction Counselors where he took over for Dr. Kevin McCauley. With his own undergrad in English, philosophy, and psychology, and a Masters in Psychology MFT from Chapman University, Ari has helped found and formed programs focused on young men to help them achieve autonomous healthy living. From writing clinical programs, to working with clients, and teaching aspiring counselors, Ari is passionate about every aspect of the industry. When not working, Ari likes to stay balanced by spending time surfing (he’s been catching waves since he was 7), spending time with his wife, and playing with his son, Gavin, and two dogs, Izabella and Einstein.

Kelsey Huberty

Kelsey Huberty received her Bachelor of Arts in Women’s Studies and Sociology from St. Catherine University. She worked with the Jeremiah Program, a nationally recognized non-profit organization aimed at helping women and children transform their lives from poverty to prosperity. Recognizing the impact and rewarding nature of this work, Kelsey left the organization and began to work for The Emily Program, an eating disorder clinic. Her work at these organizations, combined with personal experience, led Kelsey to pursue a Master’s of Arts in Addiction Counseling through the Hazelden Graduate School of Addiction Studies. Upon graduation she worked for both Hazelden St. Paul and Hazelden Plymouth, the organization’s facility for adolescents, young adults, and families. Kelsey joined Northbound in May of 2013 and has worked for the organization in different capacities. She enjoys working with the clinical staff, program managers, and executive team to ensure clinically innovative programming and a therapeutic experience for all clients. Kelsey has received her CADC-II and her ICADC from the California Consortium of Addiction Professionals.

Colin Maher

Men’s CORE Program Manager

Originally from Roanoke, Virginia, Colin began working at Northbound in January, 2013. Colin initially obtained his Bachelor of Science in Geology at Radford University. After battling his own addictions for many years and finally finding sobriety, he began volunteering at an Outpatient facility in his hometown of Roanoke. After deciding to pursue a career in the Addiction field, Colin obtained his Master’s in Addiction Counseling at the Hazelden Graduate School of Addiction Studies. While at Hazelden, Colin worked on male-specific units, the Dan Anderson Renewal Center, and also had the opportunity to spend time at the Retreat in Wayzata, MN. Since coming to Northbound, Colin has spent his time working in our Men’s CORE program, helping guide our male clients through their own recovery journey.

LINKS Program Manager and Assistant Director of Operations

Ryan is a 2010 Northbound alumni with an incredible passion for working in the field of addiction. He attended the Academy at Northbound where he became a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor, and now runs the Men’s CORE Program and the Christian-based LINKS Program. Prior to coming to Northbound, Ryan was involved in structural engineering, and simply discovered he wanted a more purpose-driven life. He finds the work he does with his clients extremely gratifying, and is honored to be able to give back to the recovery community in whatever way he can. Outside of work, Ryan considers himself a true family man and enjoys spending his time with his wife and beautiful baby girl. He appreciates the outdoors and loves extreme sports, including wakeboarding, surfing, and snowboarding.

The College Program Manager

Trisha’s personal experiences in recovery have played a significant role in her professional pursuits with working with young adults at Northbound since 2009. Trisha’s knowledge of alcoholism and drug abuse, her passion for her work, and her commitment to her clients play a big part in guiding and educating the students in the Academy. Trisha received a Bachelor’s degree in Communication with a Family Studies minor at the University of Arizona in Tucson. She is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor and is currently working towards her Master’s in Psychology with emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Michael is a 2013 Northbound alumni who is thrilled to be involved in the program that gave him so much, Northbound’s College Program. Michael received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Denver in 2014. As the Academic Coordinator, Michael brings extensive experience as a tutor and in navigating the complexities of higher education. He also has firsthand knowledge of the power education can have in early recovery. He takes great pride in being able to help individuals reach their academic goals. For Michael, school was a crucial supportive piece to his own sobriety that helped foster a full and productive life, which he hopes to instill in every client that goes through Northbound’s College Program. Michael is supported by an impressive team with years of experience, immense passion, and a commitment to client health that delivers a truly one of a kind experience.

Elizabeth Steele

Outpatient Services Program Manager

Elizabeth Steele obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Cal State Fullerton and worked for two years at a community health center providing case management services to clients with severe and persistent mental health diagnoses, many of whom were dually diagnosed with substance use disorders. She has a true passion for working with individuals suffering from addiction, and she went on to get her Master’s in Addiction Counseling at the Hazelden Graduate School of Addiction Studies. While at Hazelden, Elizabeth worked on female-specific units at the facility’s adult and adolescent young adult treatment centers. She also worked with the male population at Hazelden’s residential extended care program. Elizabeth joined the Northbound team in January of 2013 and leads an experienced, skilled team of addiction professionals as Program Manager of the Intensive Outpatient Program.

Therapist

Barek joined Northbound as a Therapist in 2014 and has been working in the field of chemical dependency since 2011. Prior to joining Northbound, Barek worked with adolescents, adults, couples, and families, focusing on emotional, cognitive, relational, and chemical dependency issues. His experience encompasses problems such as depression, anxiety, violence and sexual assault, anger management, trauma, and various other mood and personality disorders. Barek has conducted lectures, workshops, and has facilitated groups on various topics which have included chemical dependency. Barek received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, as well as his Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Vanguard University. He uses a multifaceted approach to therapy, utilizing a combination of Object-Relations, Family Systems, and Cognitive Behavioral approaches. His focus in treatment is to help clients increase self–insight, develop effective coping and communication skills, and build healthy and lasting relationships. In his spare time Barek enjoys outdoor activities, reading, camping, and spending time with his wife and two boys.

Crystal D

Crystal Delaney

Therapist

Crystal is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master’s degree in counseling. She has experience working with several different populations including mentally ill adults, victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, senior citizens with memory loss, people with legal problems, and dual diagnosis clients. Crystal believes in empowering her clients to develop the motivation to fight for themselves, often in regard to learning how to manage addiction or to cope with mental health symptoms. She specializes in doing cognitive behavioral therapy, teaching mindfulness and emotion management, and assisting clients with self-esteem issues, anxiety, and depression. Crystal thoroughly enjoys her work with Northbound clients, and feels very rewarded by often having the opportunity to see them make major changes over the course of treatment.

Ericka Bettge

Ericka joined Northbound as a Therapist in 2015 and completed her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at National University. Ericka also holds a Master’s degree in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary with a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from Azusa Pacific University. Prior to coming to Northbound, Ericka worked with court-ordered female adolescents and their families at a DMH contracted agency. She is certified in Seeking Safety, an evidenced-based practice that addresses issues of both substance use and trauma. She believes in a holistic model of treatment in which the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs of a person are addressed in order to bring healing and recovery. Ericka uses an eclectic selection of theoretical approaches including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Positive Psychology. She believes in the resiliency of the human spirit and a person’s ability to create lasting change in their lives. In her spare time Ericka enjoys competitive cycling, running, dance, traveling and her cat Lucy.

Gayle brings years of experience successfully coordinating, implementing, and managing research-based intervention and prevention programs related to mental illness. She has her Master’s in Science from Hofstra University and is practicing as a registered BBS Marriage and Family Therapist Intern. She is currently working on her doctorate in School and Community Psychology. Areas of specialty consist of substance abuse, eating disorders, trauma, mood disorders, and educational and developmental disorders. She has a proven ability to provide effective Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Experiential Therapy, and other evidenced based practices. Gayle prides herself on providing a safe space as a platform to grow and heal the mind, body, and spirit. Her favorite part of the job is watching the light come on in another’s eyes and to see their growth into the person they always wanted to be. As an active member of 12 step programs, she believes that her primary purpose is to help another alcoholic or addict achieve and maintain sobriety, both physically and emotionally.

Joanna completed her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego, and received her Bachelor’s from UCLA. Prior to coming to Northbound, Joanna worked at Phoenix House providing therapy to court-ordered adolescents and their families in English and Spanish. She is EMDR trained and specializes in treating both adults, adolescents and their families with co-occurring disorders. She has had experience working with abuse survivors, combat vets, and victims of gang violence. Joanna is in the process of obtaining her certification in TF-CBT (trauma focused cognitive behavior therapy). She believes in a post-Modernist approach to the therapeutic relationship, and she strives to be transparent, compassionate, and grounded with her clients. She believes that people are resilient, strong and innately good, and her goal in therapy is to help them realize that for themselves. Currently, she lives in San Clemente with her husband Rene. She is a military wife and is very active in the military community and has volunteered at the Navy Medical Center with veterans, their families and wounded warriors.

Nicole Caseres

Therapist

Having worked in the mental health industry since 2006, Nicole comes to Northbound after working in a variety of settings such as Adolescent Behavioral Hospital, Group Homes for foster care females, Non-profit organizations, Institutes for the Mentally Disordered, Sex Offenders Clinic, and an Internship at Orange County Jail. She graduated from Alliant International University with a Doctorate in Clinical Forensic Psychology in May 2014 and is currently working towards licensure with the Board of Psychology.
When not at Northbound, she is currently an Adjunct professor at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology for the Marriage and Family Therapy Program. She has a passion for work in forensic settings and challenging cases, but when she’s not focused on the mental health field, she enjoys practicing Krav Maga and Kick Boxing.

Shannon Helmle

Shannon is a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist with a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. Shannon has worked in the field of addiction and dual diagnosis for over 4 years. She believes that helping clients examine and address underlying causes for their addiction is the best way for them to achieve long term sobriety. Shannon uses a variety of therapeutic modalities to help her clients, including cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and experiential therapy, as well as mindfulness training. Her goal is to help her clients learn copings skills for anxiety, depression, and other co-occurring mental health issues. Shannon strives to help each of her clients gain personal insight and feel empowered to face their new life in sobriety with excitement and confidence. Outside of work Shannon loves to spend time on the ocean and going on adventures with her two children.

Stephen Creel is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has been working in the field of chemical dependency for over 12 years. Stephen earned his Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University in 2001. After his graduation, Stephen went to work as a family therapist at Phoenix House. It was here that his discovered his passion for working with individuals in recovery. He has worked at a number of other treatment centers in the Southern California area and joined Northbound in August of 2012. At Northbound, Stephen conducts individual and family therapy and leads of number of process and educational groups. He is also an adjunct professor of Psychology at Argosy University in Orange, CA. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his wife and beautiful six year old daughter.

Dusty Watson

Case Manager

Dusty Watson has been in recovery for more than 20 years. After a 35-year career as a professional touring drummer, his passion for recovery led him into the treatment field. Dusty studied at the CAARR Institute and DLCAS where he completed his Drug and Alcohol Counseling coursework. Dusty is currently registered with CAS and CAADAC where he continues his studies. Along with his ability to share his personal experience with long-term recovery, Dusty facilitates drum therapy sessions for Northbound clients with his organization, Cleanbeat. Drum therapy promotes healing and self-expression. Cleanbeat offers participants the opportunity to find their voice and engage in another form of communication. Drumming is a form of listening and “talking” to others while collaborating with each other in a group setting. Each participant’s “voice” becomes an integral part of the circle, reestablishing one’s confidence and self-esteem.

Garrett Bracken

A former client in the Links program, Garrett has been with Northbound since day one of his sobriety. He believes in the Northbound culture and his goal is to assist and advocate for his clients’ recovery one day at a time. Garrett has developed several new curriculums for the Links program since he joined the team including a Faith Development course, a Life Skills course, and a course addressing ways to improve upon character defects. In March 2015, Garrett won the Northbound Leadership Award given to an individual who has unwavering commitment to the transformational leadership principles of transparency, authenticity, and honesty. Garrett believes in helping clients establish new attainable goals in sobriety and helping them not only progress in sobriety, but help assimilate them back into life with Northbound’s support.

Heather Coyne-Black

Case Manager

Heather joined Northbound from Washington State where she has six years’ experience working as an addictions counselor. Additionally, Heather has served on the board of CDPWS, Washington affiliate for NAADAC, served on the committee for NAADAC’s national conference, and has been published in the Washington State Treatment Update. Heather has a deep passion for working with recovering persons. She works as a case manager in Northbound’s Links program. Her goal is to create a safe space for her clients to explore and develop their relationship with God.

Jamie Leonard

Born and raised in Orange County, Jamie Leonard is familiar with not only the surrounding areas but the resources necessary to begin recovery here in her hometown. Jamie comes to Northbound with knowledge not only from the classroom but from personal experience as to what it is like for the addict. When first getting sober herself Jamie attended the Phoenix House Orange County, once completing her courses towards obtaining her RADT-I RRW under the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals, Jamie was able to gain employment at the Phoenix House. Being able to work hand in hand with clients where Jamie was once newly sober herself was a spiritual experience that she greatly cherishes. Her personal experience in a 12 step recovery program allows her to better relate to what the clients are experiencing and as a counselor is able to come from a place of personal experience, strength and hope. The opportunity to come to Northbound after working at the Phoenix house was one that challenged Jamie in new ways and took her out of her comfort zone of where she got sober and has allowed her to grow and utilize her experience to reach more people who are suffering at the hands of addiction. Jamie truly feels that working with the men and women at Northbound is not only a privilege but a gift of the promises as she is able to trudge the road of happy destiny with the clients.

Kristen joined Northbound in 2014 as a Case Manager. Prior to Northbound she worked at a non-profit in Pasadena with DMH and DCFS with children and families who are in the system. Her experience working in treatment for addictive disorders includes working as a Patient Coordinator at A Mission for Michael in Dana Point. Kristen has her Bachelor’s in Psychology and her CAADAC, and she is currently working on obtaining her Master’s Degree.
She has a huge passion for working in the treatment industry and for helping and working with struggling individuals and their families. In her spare time, Kristen loves to hike, run, and be outdoors.

Libby Supan

Currently a BBS certified therapy intern, Libby received her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University. She is also an alumnus of Long Beach State where she focused on Communication Studies. Before Northbound, Libby worked as an Elementary School Counselor in Orange County with children of a low socio-economic status, many of whom with came from addicted families. Libby has personal experience with addiction, and it has proven to be a rewarding population to work with. She sees each person as an individual and takes care to craft her therapy technique to each unique client. Libby has found that Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy have guided her in working with clients. Her areas of interest include eating disorders, body dysmorphic disorder, emotional eating, addiction, trauma, and family therapy. Once upon a time, Libby was a professional cheerleader/dance member, but today she spends her free time enjoying the outdoors, playing with her Pomapoo G.G. (Good Girl), dancing, and surrounding herself with family and friends.

Shelly Wilson

Born in La Mirada, California, Shelly feels most at home near a) her family, b) her Orange County recovery community and c) the Coast. Shelly is the second born of three girls and is mom to an 18 year old son, Trevor. Her friends would describe her as gregarious, direct, witty, animated, thankful, hard-working, and courageous. Shelly’s focus in case management includes self-regulation, values planning, unbiased exploration of a Higher Power, self-efficacy, vocational preparation, and building sober support. From Shelly’s personal experience in 12 Step recovery and her professional training (licensed by California Association of Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counselors), she believes the combination of talking, writing, and connecting to a sober community those in recovery avoid keeping the secrets that eventually lead to shame and isolation, and likely to lapse or relapse. Today, Shelly’s best part of her life is her family. She carries a strong message of reunification, loyalty, and restoration to clients acknowledging that the spiritual principles embedded in the 12 Steps seem “lofty” some days. But most days, “As I see God work, I feel totally humbled and sometimes speechless.”

Kellie Berry is the Pastoral Counselor in the Links Program at Northbound. Kellie brings a passion and commitment to treatment based on her desire to see transformation happening in the lives of clients. She likes to see positive change come to those whose lives and relationships have been damaged by addiction. Kellie gets energy from helping these individuals reframe their experiences and integrate the tools of the 12 steps so that they are restored physically, emotionally and spiritually. Kellie comes from a staff church position where she served in Soul Care and Recovery Ministries, as well as doing Life Care Counseling and serving as one of the Community Pastors. Kellie’s personal struggles and working through the brokenness of being an adult child of an alcoholic give her a perspective that helps her connect uniquely with her clients. She earned an AA in Human Services from Orange Coast College and attended the Institute of Addiction Counseling and Intervention, graduating as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

Danielle grew up locally, and as a young adult she had aspirations to run track for UCLA. When her addiction took over, her life took a drastic turn. She struggled with addiction for five and a half years, which ended her track career and led to multiple treatment episodes. Eventually she was beaten into a state of desperation and was able to get sober through the program of Alcoholics Anonymous. At six months sober she attended Centaur University where she passed the CAADAC state exam and began working for Northbound in February, 2013. She has worked in multiple departments, starting as a Treatment Tech, moving to Client Advocate, followed by Case Management. She has a passion for sobriety and enjoys watching recovering addicts get, and stay, sober.

Above all, Missy is committed to her personal recovery, which has allowed her the opportunity to be passionate about helping others. Having worked at the Betty Ford Center for five years, she brings her experience working with individuals of many different backgrounds to Northbound. Missy also worked as a substance abuse counselor for state required DUI counseling after earning her CADC in 2013. She is currently working on her BA in psychology/communications, and is excited to see where that will take her. In the five years that she has worked in treatment, she has come to love the work that she gets to do on a daily basis. With more than eight years of experience working in the field of addiction, Gina brings her degree in Human Services and Mental Health, and her hands-on community approach to the doors of Northbound Treatment Services. A Southern California native, Gina has worked in a variety of residential and detoxification treatment centers, mentoring addicts in their quest to acquire a rewarding and sustaining life. Gina has experienced the life shattering effects of addiction from both sides, and understands what the addict and family members are going through. Recovery has given her a life of purpose, integrity and honor. Her passion is working in the initial phase of treatment, known as detox. Gina believes that detox is the most vulnerable stage of the recovering process and strives for her clients to gain insight in knowing that “using drugs and alcohol are only symptoms of the problem”.
Gina’s strengths are in nurturing and guiding others with her love, hope, and kindness into finding their path to recovery. Gina understands how difficult it is to come to terms with chemical dependency and other addictive disorders and is committed in her efforts to help our clients gain knowledge of this disease.

Born and raised in Southern California, Sandra came to Northbound as an LVN at oneEIGHTY detox in 2013. She attended private school for nursing training and passed her state boards in 2012 to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Sandra specializes in assessment, medication management, withdrawal, and stabilization for all clients entering Northbound who need detoxification services. Prior to coming to Northbound, she was a caregiver for hospice clients and adults who need assistance with daily living. Sandra is motivated and committed to helping others to the best of her ability. Stacey was born and raised in San Luis Obispo, California and came to Northbound in 2012. She attended Butte College and Chico Beauty College in Chico, CA. Prior to coming to Northbound, Stacey worked in a salon until she met her husband and started building a family. Today she is the mother of five wonderful children. She found her passion for cooking and baking through her husband who also loves to cook and by watching The Food Network. She is an amazing chef at Northbound’s oneEIGHTY detox center, where clients stay before they enter residential treatment. Outside of work she enjoys reading and golfing.

Greg comes to Northbound from Birmingham, Alabama. Before joining Northbound, Greg’s professional experience included corporate life insurance, residential real estate, and small business management. He earned a degree in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama in 2009, and has been a member of the team since January 2013. Since joining Northbound, Greg has held leadership positions in Operations, Finance, and Admissions. He has proven and continues to be a tremendous asset in the organization. He has a passion for helping save lives and giving people the chance to achieve long-term sobriety.

Ashton has been working in the field of addiction for nearly a decade. During her career, she has held positions in all departments from clinical to accounting. On a daily basis she handles all aspects of insurance from verification to authorization to claims processing. Ashton also oversees the intake process. She assures that the initial Northbound Experience is memorable and a pleasant transition. She has found her niche in the treatment industry assisting clients and their families in obtaining insurance coverage for their treatment episodes. Since joining the Northbound Team in 2011, Ashton has assisted many clients in achieving our mission by allowing insurance to elongate their stay and alleviate the financial stressors from their families. She states, “It is an everyday battle, but it is worth it to help families when they desperately need it”.

Connor Quinn is a 2013 Northbound alum who is extremely grateful to be in a position where he can give back to a program and group of people that have helped him immensely. He was educated at the University of Tennessee before finding his way out to the west coast where he has since pursued his Certification in Drug and Alcohol Counseling. Over the past couple of years he has focused his efforts towards assisting the alcoholic and addict who still struggles with addiction. Connor is also a former college hockey player who now uses his free time to pursue his budding music career. Music played a large role in Connor’s recovery, and he is dedicated to making this type of therapy accessible to other musicians and artists that walk through Northbound’s doors.

Shannon comes to Northbound with over 20 years of teaching experience in Early Childhood Education, and is passionate about helping people. Owning and operating her own Preschool and Early Enrichment Care for Children since the late 90’s, she has an innate sense of leadership and strong commitment to excellence.
Shannon utilizes the transparency of the Northbound Mission to bring an honest and candid approach to the admissions process. Recognizing that the first phone call for help is the most vital one, she initiates a direct and compassionate approach to both the client and the family. After spending decades in her own addiction, she finds that her years of bitter experience are only worthwhile if turned to good account. That being her most valuable asset, she can walk each client and family through the painstaking process of admission with confidence and hope in a new life.
Shannon is the mother to five beautiful children, and she has also welcomed her greatest delight, a new grandson. She considers family one of the greatest gifts sobriety has given back to her. She is active in the 12 step community and knows that the only way in keeping this life, is by freely giving it away. Taking direction from the woman in front of her, and passing it on to the woman behind, is the foundation of her recovery.

Eloise joined the Northbound team in November 2014 as a Referral Relations Manager after 13 years of experience working in the field of addiction, as well as 16 years of personal recovery. She began her career in the field of addiction in 2002 at the Betty Ford Center, starting as a chemical dependency unit technician, while completing the Drug and Alcohol certification program at College of the Desert. In 2004, Eloise was asked to join the admissions team; she loved helping the alcoholic/addict, and moved forward as team leader and trainer. In 2007 Eloise joined the Business Development department where she began moving forward to develop relationships with professionals in the field of addiction, and organizing the annual Women’s Symposium. She was also recently recognized by the Women’s Association for Addiction Treatment, with the 7th annual Smart award. Eloise loves spending time with family, jazz concerts, shopping, and being of service.

Jennifer joined the team at Northbound as Business Development Manager, bringing over a decade of marketing experience and creating relationships to promote recovery in the addiction treatment field around the country. She has a degree in business management and marketing, which has propelled her pursuits throughout the entirety of her career. Jennifer spent over ten years in the fashion industry in New York, working consistently with luxury brand designers. She eventually felt called to make a transition to the treatment industry, motivated by watching family members and loved ones struggle with addiction and the miraculous transformations they were able to make in recovery. Jennifer has benefitted greatly from active participation in Al-anon, and she feels fulfilled personally and professionally providing both resources and hope to people fighting the disease of addiction. As a Los Angeles local, she loves taking advantage of the Southern California weather, hiking, sailing, and enjoying the beach year round.

Karen Happel joined the Northbound marketing team early in 2015. She truly enjoys her position as it compliments both her organizational and creative strengths. After nearly a decade of work in the television industry with a list of casting credits including “The Biggest Loser” and “Hell’s Kitchen,” she is excited to bring her fierce work ethic and spirited enthusiasm to a new field. Growing up on Long Island, where she acquired a Bachelor of Science in Television and Business from Hofstra University, and spending ten years in Los Angeles, she feels she has finally found her home in Orange County. Nikki Saurage

Nikki Saurage is a Texas-native, mother of two, and wife of one. She brings empathy and compassion to the chemical dependency treatment world with years of experience working for such organizations as CRC Health, Phoenix Monitoring, and La Hacienda Treatment Center. She was the proud owner of Lotus Recovery Homes in Texas, and admits that the most difficult decision in her life was letting the homes go so she could change her focus to outreach and business development. Nikki’s passions include advocacy for the rights of those battling addiction and her role as a State Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist and Trainer. She is working on her BA degree while loving on her two children and trying to coordinate her travel schedule with her husband Cade who also works in the industry. Nikki is quick to tell you how proud she is to come on board with Northbound Treatment Services where her belief in God, integrity, and doing the right thing above all else is welcomed with open arms. “Working for Northbound is a dream come true!”

Tim Adrian is an experienced addiction professional in the Pacific Northwest. He finds great satisfaction working in the addiction treatment field and especially enjoys helping families navigate the challenges of early recovery. Tim is quick to share his experience, strength, and hope with others and believes that working the 12 Steps and developing a dynamic spiritual life are integral pieces in helping those afflicted with the disease find freedom in recovery. Tim is a Certified ARISE Interventionist and earned his B.S. from Oregon State University (go Beavs). He lives with his wife and kids in beautiful Stanwood, Washington and volunteers on the Board of Directors with Everett Recovery Café and has also worked on the Snohomish County Alcohol and other Drugs Board. When he is not working or volunteering in recovery he loves to play golf, hike and play sports with his kids.

Val Tripi joined Northbound in 2015 as a Referral Relations Manager for our St. Louis office. Val came to Northbound with an extensive background in healthcare business development and strategic marketing/communications. Her past experience includes serving as Director of Business Development for a large faith-based healthcare corporation; Senior Account Director for an advertising agency responsible for management and growth of 12 regional brands; agency lead responsible for development of learning strategy and on-line learning systems. She has also worked as a business consultant and taught at the university level.

Val lives in St. Louis City and is married to David Weber. She has a son named Dominic. She is actively involved in the St. Louis recovery community and is extremely passionate about helping those who suffer from chemical dependency, and providing support to their families and loved ones.

Three years ago Nikki moved to Orange County from Colorado; she began her career in the treatment industry only six months later. She is excited to begin her new role at the Behr Center and the responsibilities it entails. She worked as a treatment tech at Northbound for a year before moving into an administrative role, and has enjoyed her time working with the Northbound family. Nikki is passionate about her own recovery, as well as having the opportunity to help others who are beginning their journey to a sober life. Ray Pacini joined Northbound in June 2013 after a 30 year career in various roles with publicly traded companies. Ray has been a board member for three public companies during the last 15 years, served as the CEO for a residential developer for 13 years and as the CFO for a commercial and residential developer for six years. He also spent three years with a Fortune 500 conglomerate and seven years as a CPA with a Big 4 public accounting firm. Ray is utilizing his financial management and strategic planning experience to help Northbound continue to grow and provide cost effective services to clients and their families. Ray earned his BA from Colgate University and his MBA from Cornell University.

John joined Northbound in October of 2013, after spending 11 years as Controller for a cellphone accessories distributor, and several years in public accounting. As Controller, his role is to keep accurate records of the company’s expenses and revenues, and to provide management with the financial reports needed to make decisions. Prior to his accounting career, he spent many years in the teaching profession, and he continues to teach on a part time basis.
He received a Master’s degree in Accountancy from California State University, Fullerton.

Michelle joined Northbound in 2014 and has been doing finance for more than 8 years. Her knowledge of accounting and finance comes from her education at University of California, Riverside. She has her BS in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. Michelle’s responsibilities include: all billing, collections, managing expenses of the company, and making sure the day to day financial operations are running smoothly. She closely works with majority of the operations department to ensure the satisfaction of all of our clients in need. She also manages funding to all clients while ensuring rapport to current clients, alumni’s, and family members. In Michelle’s leisure time, she enjoys spending time with family, going out with friends and fiance, watching movies and shows, and enjoys eating delicious meals. She has one older sister that is a veterinarian, and is a daughter to two loving parents.

Max Reznik is a 2014 Northbound alum who is ecstatic about the opportunity to be a part of the program that gave him so much. Prior to working at Northbound, Max attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA where he studied Marketing and Finance, which lead him to a career in Financial Consulting at a Big Four professional services firm based out of New York City. Before his work in Financial Consulting, Max successfully created and ran a mobile car/boat detailing franchise that he still has involvement with today. After emerging from the Northbound program, Max wanted to parlay his knowledge and experience for the greater good of helping others find a better way of living. Max’s daily responsibilities include managing company expenses, and more importantly, individual client expenses. These duties enable the clients to get the most out of their experience at Northbound, thus increasing their chances for success. Hailing from the East Coast, Max is an avid Yankees, Giants, Rangers and Knicks fan.

Sally Pahl manages the human resources department at Northbound. She has worked in social services and medical management, finance, administration, and business development for more than 15 years. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo where she concentrated on social and business psychology and conflict resolution. Sally’s education, background and experience have allowed her to effectively assist families in crisis.

Sally strives to achieve an effective and efficient team of workers at Northbound by ensuring maintenance of appropriate policies and procedures. Clients at Northbound deserve compassionate, qualified, and well trained individuals to manage their care which Sally’s team works diligently to maintain.

Ruby joined Northbound in 2014. Her previous work includes benefits counseling, research in the fields of art and environmental issues, and teaching yoga. Ruby attended the University of California, Santa Barbara where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Global Studies and Art History. After working in museums and art galleries, she chose to focus her attention on more interactive work, which eventually led her to the Northbound HR department. She considers it a blessing to work for a company dedicated to helping people improving their quality of life. Ruby is excited to be a part of a supportive community and to use her skills for the good of the staff and clients. She also loves to teach and practice yoga, swim in the ocean, and eat blueberries.

“Computer Paul” joined Northbound in 2012 as a treatment technician and is now a valued team member in Northbound’s internal IT Department. Prior to Northbound, Paul worked in accounting and IT/Computer Tech services for Yellowstone Recovery in Costa Mesa, CA. In 2005, Paul received his Comptia A+, Comptia Network+ and MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) certifications and worked at Monster Memory and More Inc, in San Clemente, CA. He has BA in English Literature from the University of Missouri St. Louis and has had short stories and poetry published in various magazines and anthologies. Paul has been in recovery himself since 2008, and in his free time he volunteers at Yellowstone Recovery and serves on its Board of Directors.

Director of Court Services

William Walker joined the Northbound team in 2012, utilizing six years of experience and continued service in treatment planning and client support services. He is a certified drug and alcohol counselor with CAADE, a Certified Christian Counselor, and brings the spark of his own personal long-term recovery and connection to the national legal, recovery, and treatment professional communities. As Director of Court Services, William helps clients with legal issues advocate for their ongoing care and navigate the many moving parts of the criminal justice system. William is a powerful voice in the courtroom for recovering clients and liaisons regularly with the courts, probation, and parole. For many clients, this means life-saving benefit in the form of treatment, and second chances can become the court’s alternatives to criminal punishment. Concurrently as an Admission Coordinator, William works with incoming clients and their families toward creating a specialized care plan that takes into account the need to create long-term opportunities for success. William is very active in the recovery community of Costa Mesa and Newport Beach, and is popularly known for his dedication to community and nonprofit organizations. In addition, William is currently an operating board member at Yellowstone Recovery in Costa Mesa, California.

Ray has been with Northbound since 2012. He has held positions as a Driver Supervisor, and Client Services Manager, during which he planned and supervised all client activities, appointments, and events. Ray currently advocates for Northbound clients who are facing legal consequences due to addiction and alcoholism. He assists the admissions team in arranging for individualized treatment based on each client’s unique needs, including working with probation and alternative sentencing cases. Ray is married and has a beautiful son named Mason. He also enjoys his role as alumni coordinator, because he recognizes that the alumni are the heart and soul of a good treatment program. When not working, Ray enjoys camping, hiking, the outdoors, staying active, and has a passion for all aspects of sports. Ray has been sober himself since 2009. He moved to California from Maryland 5 years ago to find a better way of living and has found a life beyond his wildest dreams.

She is an integral member of the Northbound team, working as the quality and compliance coordinator, in addition to facilitating client alumni meetings. Jaana is highly skilled at crisis intervention, and clients trust her to assist with various challenges they face on a regular basis. She is in the process of getting her CAADAC certification and working toward a bachelor’s degree in psychology to become a therapist. When Jaana isn’t working, she enjoys being a dedicated wife and mother.

Tim Miller

Tim Miller

Tim Miller’s expertise ranges from electrical, heating, and air conditioning, to health/safety and risk management. He also has an in-depth knowledge of general maintenance stemming from more than twenty years’ experience in the construction industry. Tim graduated from California Polytechnic University of Pomona where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in management and human resources with an emphasis in the entrepreneur program. His minor was in communication theory. Tim is committed to providing a safe, comfortable living environment for customers and contributes his success in upholding this commitment by providing excellence service, predicting outcomes for environmental safety, and always listening to the customers’ needs. Tim also insists on aligning his work values with personal values and enjoying life. Year after year, Tim manages and plays on the Northbound alumni co-ed softball team while making time to play on the men’s staff/alumni team. Additionally, he plays on the Northbound co-ed and men’s soccer teams. These activities help give balance in Tim’s life while inspiring others to do the same, and he insists on having fun in sobriety!

Born and raised in Mazomanie, Wisconsin, a small farm community in the Midwest, Darcie started her work experience at one of her favorite positions – as a Groundskeeper for a 36 hole golf course! Venturing on to bigger and better things, she moved to Houston, TX. working for a major oil company, Transco Oil, in their Data Control department. From there she next landed in Newport Beach, California and comes to Northbound after 12 years as an Executive Secretary with Frito-Lay, a division of PepsiCo, to most recently working in Finance and Insurance at Sober Living By The Sea. After attending Saddleback College, in June of 2012 Darcie received her Certification as a Medical Assistant. Darcie also joined Northbound in June 2012 and has held various positions – Treatment Technician, Driver, Field Supervisor and now holds the title of Health Care Assistant.

Program Director

Tib has been a professional in the addiction recovery field since 1986. Having worked as an inpatient and outpatient adult, adolescent aftercare, and family program counselor, Tib is well qualified to facilitate clinical evaluations as well as family and workplace interventions. His exposure to many uniquely experienced professionals over the course of his twenty-eight year career has afforded him the opportunity to now share these gifts with others. The St. Louis office is supported by an outstanding clinical team with eighty five years of front line patient experience. Overseeing the operation of two family programs, out-patient, IOP, aftercare, admissions at all levels of care including inpatient to Newport Beach, allows Tib the latitude of representing Northbound as a family recovery program. Tib attended the University of Nevada at Las Vegas and completed the Chemical Independence Certificate Program through the St. Louis Community College’s Meramec Campus. Ultimately Tib is responsible for the success of Northbound St. Louis. “But, only in theory, this operation is strictly a “we” deal. I am blessed beyond belief with extraordinary clinical talent and community support.” Northbound is truly a family recovery program.

Sherry McNamara received her B.S. from Indiana University. Her personal journey in recovery began in 1998 and inspired her to obtain a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling from Maryville University. Sherry entered the addiction counseling field in 2002 and has worked in a number of settings including the Exodus Program, First Step Recovery Center and the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. She has had experience in many areas of chemical dependency counseling: outpatient, intensive outpatient, continuing care, individual and family counseling and education. Sherry is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor.

Geno Martino

Case Manager

Geno recently joined Northbound’s Intensive Outpatient Program in Saint Louis where he provides one-on-one counseling and facilitates educational and family groups. Prior to joining the Northbound team, Geno worked with Criminal Justice Ministry – Saint Louis as a Case Manager for the Release to Rent program ensuring intensive case management to gentlemen returning home from long-term incarceration. Geno earned a Bachelor of Social Work degree from University of Missouri – Saint Louis and is currently working towards his MSW with a concentration in Individual and Family practice. He is certified as a Recognized Associate Substance Abuse Counselor II from the Missouri Substance Abuse Counselors Certification Board and as a Level I Medication Aide from Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. He is a trained facilitator for the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Caregiver Support Groups through the Alzheimer’s Association of Saint Louis and has completed the National HIV Health Literacy Technical Assistance and Capacity training. Geno has worked in the recovery field as counselor in the S.T.A.I.R.S. 28 day in-patient treatment program at the Harris House Foundation and has served on the Board of Directors for the Steps Alano Club (2004 – 2006). Geno is currently a steering committee member for the National Convocation of Jail and Prison Ministry and served on the Board of Directors for Recovery Central – Saint Louis as their President. Geno is an active member of the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis where he is a member of the Legion of Mary – Our Lady Queen of Peace chapter and serves as Vice President and is an active member of the recovery community in Saint Louis.

With more than a decade of experience in managing behavioral health treatment facilities, Devon Wayt’s expertise ranges from quality and compliance, to operations and change management. He graduated from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management in Southern California where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in management and a Master of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in global business. Devon’s leadership philosophy is based on the understanding that leadership itself takes practice. He believes that everyone can be a leader, but leadership would not exist without ethical utilities such as honesty, authenticity, transparency, integrity, and a commitment to self-respect and leading by example. He believes that determination ultimately leads to spiritual, physical, and monetary success, through leadership, for organizations and those within the organizations. Inspiring creativity and innovation while honoring the freedom to make mistakes sharpen the ability to achieve organizational goals and win. Devon’s leadership philosophy also entails the fact that he has inherited energy to help and inspire others. Balance amongst helping others and helping him attribute to personal and organizational success, and it is through healthy relationships with his family, business, and friends combined with a spiritual consciousness that his whole-heartedness can ultimately inspire others to effect change.

Ryan is a 2010 Northbound alumni with an incredible passion for working in the field of addiction. He attended the Academy at Northbound where he became a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor, and now runs the Men’s CORE Program and the Christian-based LINKS Program. Prior to coming to Northbound, Ryan was involved in structural engineering, and simply discovered he wanted a more purpose-driven life. He finds the work he does with his clients extremely gratifying, and is honored to be able to give back to the recovery community in whatever way he can. Outside of work, Ryan considers himself a true family man and enjoys spending his time with his wife and beautiful baby girl. He appreciates the outdoors and loves extreme sports, including wakeboarding, surfing, and snowboarding.

After working for six years as an event coordinator in 2013, Scott made the decision to come to Northbound in search of a more meaningful career path. As an alumni of the Betty Ford Center, Scott is active in the recovery community and believes wholeheartedly in Northbound’s mission to help young adults achieve sobriety. He is responsible for outreach and business development in the Southern California and desert area. Scott played football for UCLA in college, where he earned his BA in Geography and Environmental Studies. Today he is still passionate about sports and maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle and loves to take advantage of the outdoors in Southern California. He enjoys hiking and climbing, camping and fishing, traveling, and he is a Certified Master Scuba Diver.

Transportation Manager

Dave joined the Northbound team in 2011 as a house tech. He has since then worked as a driver and a driver supervisor, and he now plays a large role in the operations division as a shift manager, overseeing 15+ drivers, 10+ vehicles, and over 50 clients. Dave is responsible for ensuring that Northbound clients have reliable transportation to and from appointments, meetings, group and individual therapy, and an assortment of daily activities. Dave’s personal experience in recovery has allowed him to build an incredible rapport with Northbound clients. He believes that every individual recovers in his or her own unique way, and that every person suffering from addiction is capable of achieving sobriety. Dave is originally from Detroit and his passion lies in following professional, college, and high school sports. In his spare time, Dave enjoys relaxing at the beach, walking or riding his bike.

Colleen came to Northbound in 2010 as a live-in house tech at The Broadway House. During her time there, she was responsible for the training and scheduling of all female house techs. She has since been promoted to her current position as Supervisor in Northbound’s Transportation Department. She oversees a team involving multiple drivers, vehicles and clients, and coordinates all repairs and purchasing for vehicles in her department. Colleen is in the process of becoming a Certified Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counselor (CADAAC) through Northbound’s Academy Program and looks forward to continuing her education and furthering her career at Northbound.

When Clifford came to Northbound as a part time employee December of 2009, he started seeing all the positive changes that were happening in clients’ lives and wanted to be a part of it full time. He now manages the night shift operation and enjoys all the nightly challenges. He likes sharing his experience in recovery and has been a part of the recovery community for over 20 years. Cliff spent over 30 years in the printing industry, learning skills in scheduling, customer service and managing. Cliff is very active in youth baseball in his community, enjoys playing Hockey, softball, paint balling.
