Children’s Program

Addiction affects everyone, including children who have been exposed to substance abuse through either a parent, sibling, family member or additional loved ones. Often not knowing how to properly handle their emotions surrounding the devastating impacts of addiction, children tend to bottle up their feelings and/or begin acting out inappropriately. At Northbound, we want to help treat the family as a whole, and that includes providing healing opportunities for children as well.

Northbound and Bis Kids

Through our partnership with Bis Kids, a program that offers support for troubled children, we are able to make a difference in the lives of those children who are exposed to addiction and substance abuse. At no additional cost, children are invited to our quarterly program where they can congregate in a safe environment and discuss their emotions while learning how to properly cope with the effects of addiction. Not only does Northbound and Bis Kids provide children with a vocal outlet, but we also encourage the following through this program:

  • Learning how to cope with feelings in constructive ways
  • Resisting negative peer pressure
  • Setting and achieving goals
  • Addiction education
  • The importance of self-care
  • Development of self-confidence
  • Nurturing relationships with loved ones

We invite children ages 6-13 to participate in our children’s program. If you are interested in learning more, please speak to your case manager for additional details or visit the Bis Kids website at biskids.org.
