Experiential Therapy

Experiential Therapy

At Northbound, we value the importance of experiential therapy methods as a substantial form of treatment for our clients. When combined with other forms of treatment, our clients who are struggling with a substance abuse problem, a mental illness or a combination of both begin developing stronger self-esteem, self-confidence, new perspectives and teamwork skills. The goal of our experiential treatment program is to provide our patients with these skills plus many more that will aid in their successful recovery. Some of the experiential therapy programs that we offer at Northbound include:

  • Equine Therapy
  • Therapeutic Activities
  • Sober Fun
  • Alumni Interactions
  • Men’s and Women’s Experiential Therapy Groups

At Northbound, we focus a large portion of our attention on involving our clients in our Sober Fun program, where they will learn how to enjoy themselves without using. We strongly believe that the Orange County environment paired with numerous fun activities can help eliminate stress, address personal goals and show clients how rewarding sobriety can be. We find that it is crucial to learn how to have fun in sobriety and find the “natural highs” of life. It is also important to learn how to manage the emotions associated with having fun. For a number of our clients this is a challenge. While many of these activities are incorporated into the overall cost, some will incur an additional fee.

We strongly believe in connecting our current clients with our alumni community, as we feel that some of the best learning and therapy can come from these interactions. Northbound provides opportunities for these meetings so current patients can continue to develop their overall sobriety through the help of others.

The Northbound Client and Alumni Services is run by Jason Wahler and offers recovery support to our clients. Our Client Advocates are there for our clients every step of the way and assist the treatment team in orienting our clients to the program and leading many of our activities. This program helps to facilitate the client’s entrance into the 12-step maintenance program of the client’s choice and show that there is fun to be had in sobriety.
