Fun and life-affirming activities not only keep our clients active and engaged, but through these activities we address our clients’ treatment goals, including mental health treatment, dual diagnosis treatment and general substance abuse treatment.
Healthy, fun and life-affirming activities are an important component of the full continuum of care offered at Northbound. Not only do they keep our clients active and engaged, but through these activities we address our clients’ treatment goals, including mental health treatment, dual diagnosis treatment and general substance abuse treatment. Some of the many beneficial therapeutic activities offered at Northbound include:
- Trips to Catalina Island
- Surfing lessons
- Skiing and snowboarding trips to Big Bear and Mammoth
- Whale watching
- Beach excursions
- Rock climbing
These activities are designed to complement each individual client’s treatment plan. In addition, we design our activities specifically to help our clients achieve goals they’ve set for themselves in their treatment.
One of the greatest benefits of Northbound’s therapeutic activities is the way in which they can encourage personal growth while providing beauty and serenity. Not only do these activities provide a patient with a beautiful, therapeutic environmental backdrop and a strong sense of spirituality, but they also promote achievement in the following areas:
- Relief of social anxiety
- Understanding of social inequities
- Coping skills
- Emotional management
Because we value the importance of therapeutic activities, Northbound strives to ensure that all of our clients have the opportunity to participate in as many as possible. While some activities include extra fees, many of them are included with the program. For those clients who require additional monetary assistance to participate in these activities, Northbound provides financing options that come into play when an specific activity would represent a substantial and positive benefit to the patient.
At Northbound, we believe in working on all the aspects of a client’s recovery to help him or her learn the skills they need to create a life free of drugs and alcohol. Experiential activities like the ones that play such a vital role in Northbound’s treatment program can quickly become an important part of a client’s recovery and help him or her greatly in the journey to long-term health and sobriety.
