Northbound is a different kind of treatment facility—one that puts the client first and foremost and focuses on creating a treatment plan customized for his unique needs.
Northbound is a different kind of treatment facility—one that puts the client first and foremost and focuses on creating a treatment plan customized for his unique needs. So it should be no surprise to learn that our outpatient programs and care are a little bit different as well. Not only do we offer a variety of services for locals, but we also extend our reach to serve those who do not live in the Orange County area. We keep close ties with a number of large healthcare systems, psychiatric hospitals, outpatient facilities and professionals in the field of behavioral health to ensure that we can provide our clients with a variety of options for outpatient treatment and support.
Because the needs of every client differ, the conditions of eligibility for participation in an outpatient program are highly dependent on the particular circumstances of the individual seeking treatment. For Northbound’s outpatient program, the eligibility requirements include:
- Not requiring medically-supervised detox
- Living within a reasonable distance from the clinical offices
- Looking for additional support in early recovery
Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
Northbound offers an intensive outpatient care program that has proven to be extremely effective and is ideal for clients who live in the area and wish to participate in treatment during the evening. Each week, we incorporate group process, counseling and individual psychotherapy sessions. Depending on the client’s specific needs, he or she might also participate in additional therapeutic services including gender-specific therapy, equine therapy or cognitive behavioral therapy. Like all of our treatment programs, admission to Northbound’s intensive outpatient program begins with a comprehensive analysis (including personal history and other family and social issues) that aids us in crafting a treatment plan based on the client’s outpatient needs.
Northbound Recovery Enhancement Program
The Northbound Recovery Enhancement Program focuses on getting outpatient clients involved in educational and experiential workshops led by Northbound staff members and community based professionals. Topics such as addiction as a disease, warning signs of relapse, having fun in sobriety and the importance of maintaining a well-balanced life are often discussed in meaningful ways that clients find both instructional and life-altering. In addition, our Recovery Enhancement Program helps our outpatient clients by preparing them for real-life situations that will test their sobriety.
Outpatient and the 12-Steps
At Northbound, we strongly believe in the efficacy of 12-Step programs as a route to long term sobriety. For this reason, our outpatient programs stress frequent attendance at meetings, contact with a sponsor, developing a sense of purpose, problem-solving skills, good health habits and meaningful relationships. Northbound clients select a 12-Step program as their long-term maintenance plan for sobriety and a happy, meaningful life.
The Benefits of Outpatient Treatment
