Outpatient Treatment Programs in Newport Beach – Orange County

nb-brushed-form-image-v5
Here at Northbound, we see effective treatment as that which assists clients in meeting life on life’s terms and developing a fulfilling, sustainable, and truly thriving lifestyle of recovery. We take our mission of assisting clients in celebrating one year of sobriety very seriously and have programming set up to support clients through all phases of that early recovery journey. Outpatient treatment describes a level of care where clients live off-site (generally at home or in a sober living facility) and attend counseling, therapeutic programming, and other treatment activities according to an individualized schedule throughout the week. This more independent level of care is vital in bolstering the development of an autonomous recovery lifestyle that can carry the participant far beyond the time of active treatment participation.

A client may start in a residential treatment program and transition to outpatient treatment, may return to outpatient programming for additional support when facing a slip or a relapse, or may find that an outpatient treatment program is an appropriate place to begin their recovery journey. Clients at this level of care are encouraged to develop a comprehensive, balanced lifestyle of recovery including employment, school, service work, and the development of increasingly independent, healthy relationships outside of the immediate treatment milieu, all while benefiting from the ongoing support, guidance, and accountability provided through outpatient treatment.

Outpatient Programs Offered at Northbound

All outpatient programs offered at Northbound share some common goals and service offerings, but do so at varying frequencies to allow clients to participate at the level most suited for where they are in their personal recovery journey. It is recommended for many clients to work their way progressively through the various levels of care, starting with more frequent and intensive service delivery, and gradually working their way to less frequent program interaction as they strengthen their recovery and the skills necessary to operate with enhanced independence.

Broadly, our outpatient treatment programs focus on continued therapeutic exploration, building resilience and self-efficacy, intensive relapse prevention, real-life application of newly acquired healthy coping skills, and developing the habits necessary to engage in an increasingly independent, maximally fulfilling and sustainable recovering lifestyle. Individuals at each level of outpatient care engage in some combination of individual and group therapy, case management, targeted psychoeducational classes, 12-step engagement, experiential activities, and psychiatric services as needed. Ongoing drug testing is present at all levels of care to ensure accountability and safety throughout the process. Participation in the outpatient portion of Northbound’s continuum has shown to greatly increase the likelihood that clients will reach that pivotal milestone of one year of continuous sobriety and continue to thrive in recovery for the long-term.
